AWARE CORAL REEF CONSERVATION

Everyone likes to scuba dive or snorkel in warm, clear water on a vibrant coral reef, yet many people know little about what they’re seeing or the importance of reef ecosystems. On this course you will learn how coral reefs function and the complex nature of life on a reef; why coral reefs are so important and why they are in serious trouble; what you can do to prevent further decline and how Project AWARE unites divers and water enthusiasts to make a difference.

AWARE FISH IDENTIFICATION

“What was that fish?” is a common question heard after a dive. If you want to be the scuba diver with the answers, instead of the one asking the questions, then take the AWARE – Fish Identification Padi Speciality Diver course. You’ll enjoy your dives even more when you recognize the creatures that you see and can identify the main fish families and their characteristics. During two scuba dives, you’ll learn how to identify characteristics of local fish families and species, fish survey techniques and strategies and about Project AWARE activities that can help protect aquatic life

AWARE SHARK CONSERVATION DIVER

Sharks are crucial to marine ecosystems, yet sharks are in a global decline. Learn about the value of sharks and what is causing the rapid loss of shark populations. The course may include two scuba dives or may be presented as a nondiving education program. The first dive of this distinctive Padi Speciality Diver course may credit as an Adventure Dive toward your  Padi Advanced Open Water Diver certification.

DEEP DIVER

The lure of the deep. There’s something exciting and mysterious about exploring deeper dive sites while scuba diving. It can be the beautiful deep walls of Nusa Penida or the legendary Mola Mola (Oceanic SunFish) that can easier be spotted at depths greater than 30m, from June to October. Whatever it is, to scuba dive with confidence at depths down to 40 metres, you should take the Padi Deep Diver Speciality course. During four deep dives with your instructor, you’ll go over the specialized deep diving equipment, deep dive planning, buddy contact procedures and buoyancy control, as well as managing your gas supply, dealing with gas narcosis and safety considerations.

DIGITAL UNDERWATER PHOTOGRAPHER

Underwater photography is one of the most popular diving specialities, and with so many underwater cameras to choose from, it has become easier and more fun than ever to capture images of your underwater scuba adventures. The Padi Digital Underwater Photographer course gets you going quickly, whether you use a point-and-shoot camera or a sophisticated dSLR like the pros. You will learn and practice how to choose the right underwater camera system for you, the Padi SEA (Shoot, Examine, Adjust) method for getting great shots quickly, principles for good composition of underwater images and practical techniques to take great photos with your digital camera.

DRIFT DIVER

The Padi Drift Diver Speciality course teaches you how to enjoy going with the flow as you scuba dive down rivers and use ocean currents to glide along. It feels like flying – except that you’re underwater using scuba equipment. Drift diving can be relaxing and exhilarating at the same time. If this sounds like fun, then the Drift Diver course is for you. Along with drift diving techniques and procedures, you’ll receive an introduction to drift diving equipment – floats, lines and reels, get an overview of aquatic currents – causes and effects, practice with buoyancy control, navigation and communication during two drift dives and learn techniques for staying close to a buddy or together as a group as you float with the current.

EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST

Don’t miss a dive due to minor issues with your scuba diving equipment. Whether it’s a missing o-ring, wetsuit tear or a broken fin strap, the Padi Equipment Specialist course teaches you to manage basic repairs and adjustments. You’ll learn about routine care and maintenance procedures as well as scuba equipment storage recommendations. Our Padi Instructors will show you how to overcome some common equipment problems and offer equipment configuration suggestions.

ENRICHED AIR DIVER

The Padi Enriched Air Diver course is Padi’s most popular speciality scuba course. Why? Because scuba diving with enriched air nitrox gives you more no decompression time, especially on repetitive scuba dives. If staying down longer and getting back in the water sooner sounds appealing, then don’t hesitate to become an enriched air diver. You’ll learn why diving with air that has higher oxygen and lower nitrogen content gives you more bottom time, along with enriched air equipment considerations. During a practical session, you’ll discuss managing oxygen exposure, practice analyzing oxygen content in your scuba tank and set your dive computer for diving with enriched air nitrox.

NIGHT DIVER

The thought of dipping below the surface at night seems mysterious, yet so alluring. Although you’ve been scuba diving at a site many times before, at night you drop into a whole new world and watch it come to life under the glow of your dive light. The scene changes as day creatures retire and nocturnal organisms emerge. If you’ve wondered what happens underwater after the sun goes down, sign up for the Padi Night Diver Speciality course. Scuba diving at night teaches you to focus on what you can see in your light’s beam, on controlling your buoyancy by feel, on staying with your buddy and on paying attention to details you may overlook during the day. During three night dives, you’ll practice light handling and communication techniques; entering, exiting and navigating in the dark; and identifying how plants and animals differ or change behaviour at night.

PEAK PERFORMANCE BUYOANCY

Excellent buoyancy control is what defines skilled scuba divers. You’ve seen them underwater. They glide effortlessly, use less air and ascend, descend or hover almost as if by thought. They more easily observe aquatic life without disturbing their surroundings. You can achieve this too.  You’ll learn how to determine the exact weight you need, so you’re not too light or too heavy; trim your weight system and scuba gear so you’re perfectly balanced in the water; streamline to save energy, use air more efficiently and move more smoothly through the water; and hover effortlessly in any position – vertical or horizontal.

SEARCH AND RECOVERY

It happens: People accidentally drop things from docks, off boats or even while scuba diving. If you’ve ever lost something in the water and wanted to go find it, then the Padi Search and Recovery Diver Speciality course is for you. There are effective ways to search for objects underwater that increase your chances of success. And there are good and better methods to bring up small, large or just awkward items. Search and recovery can be challenging, but a whole lot of fun.  Gathering information and resources, then carefully planning a search are the first important steps you learn. During four scuba dives, you’ll practice swimming search patterns using your compass and natural navigation; locating large and small objects using various search patterns; using a lift bag for large or heavy objects, plus other recovery methods; and planning a search operation based on facts gathered about a lost object prior to the dive.

UNDERWATER NAVIGATION

Be the scuba diver everyone wants to follow because you know where you are and where you’re going. The Padi Underwater Navigator course fine-tunes your observation skills and teaches you to more accurately use your compass underwater. If you like challenges with big rewards, take this course and have fun finding your way. You’ll learn the tools of the trade, including navigation using natural clues and by following compass headings. During three scuba dives, you’ll practice methods to estimate distance underwater; compass navigation while making at least five turns; marking or relocating a submerged object or position from the surface; and underwater map making.

UNDERWATER NATURALIST

Take the Padi Underwater Naturalist Speciality course and you’ll see new things, even on the most familiar scuba diving sites. Why? Because when know more about symbioses, underwater ecology and aquatic plant and animal habitats, you notice behaviours and see creatures you may have previously missed. Through class discussions and on two scuba dives, you’ll learn key differences between the terrestrial and aquatic worlds; major aquatic life groupings, interactions and information that dispels myths; and responsible interactions with aquatic life.
